キャプテンストライダム

Captain Straydum was a rock band consisting of Nagatomo Seiya (vocal, guitar), Umeda Keisuke (梅田啓介; bass, chorus) and Kikuzumi Moriyoshi (菊住守代司; drums, chorus). It was formed in 1999 by Nagatomo and Umeda while they studied at Utsunomiya University in Utsunomiya, the capital of Tochigi Prefecture. In 2000, the two were joined by Kikuzumi who was a student at the same university. The band was named after Gerry Strydum, a character from anime and manga Grappler Baki who was often called Captain Strydum by other characters. According to the group members, the name choice had no hidden meaning - they simply chose it because it sounded cool. They also sent a letter to Itagaki Keisuke, the manga author, and got the permission to use the name. In 2003, the band released the first single and album. Overall, ten singles and four albums were released between 2003 and 2009. On 3 February 2010, it was announced that the group would stop activities after the release of the best hits album in April of the same year. The album was released on 14 April 2010. (Source: AniDB)
